Have you ever wondered what those Mitigation Forms are showing with the roof to wall connections?  You might be aware of the different types of connections, but sometimes a picture is worth a 1000 words!

Toe nail
Toe Nails: The photo to the left shows nails that are angled to attach the rafter to the top plate. This is the weakest possible connection.
Clips
Clips: The photo to the right shows a clip with 4 nails. The clip attaches the truss to the top plate. A clip is any metal connector that does not wrap over the truss and has at least 3 nails.
Single Wrap Front Side
Single Wrap Front Side: The photo to the left shows the front side or face of the single wrap. Why is it called the face? It is the side that is attached to the block. The installer only put 2 nails in the face of this strap and there are 3 extra holes available.
Single Wrap Back Side
Single Wrap Back Side: The photo to the left shows the back side of the same strap. The installer only put 1 nail in the back side of this strap and there are 2 extra holes available. Even though all the holes do not have nails, this strap still meets the minimum requirement for single wrap credit.
Double Wrap: This credit is applied when there are 2 straps on EVERY truss that meet the single wrap requirements. This is the strongest possible connection. As you can see, if we add straps, we will fill every hole.
