Worker's Compensation
Worker's Compensation Insurance provides coverage for injuries to employees while working on the job. The law covers all accidental injuries and occupational diseases arising out of and in the course and scope of employment. This includes diseases or infections resulting from such injuries. The law also covers death resulting from such injuries within specified periods of time. Even if you do not think an injury is covered, you must still file the First Report of Injury or Illness (DWC-1) with your insurance carrier for determination of responsibility within 7 days of your first knowledge of the accident/injury.
If you employ 4 or more employees you are required by law to carry Worker's Compensation coverage. However, the compliance for construction related industries is required to have Worker's Compensation with one or more employees.
Group Health Insurance and/or Individual Health Insurance and/or Disability Insurance policies generally exclude "any injury or sickness covered by Worker's Compensation or occupational disease."
We strongly recommend you carry this valuable coverage to protect your employees and/or yourself if you choose. Without Worker’s Compensation Insurance you could be liable for the benefits of coverage and subject to suit from your employees, regardless of the number you employ. Please give us a call if you would like to purchase this valuable coverage.
