Property Insurance
Property Insurance covers an insured party who suffers a financial loss because their business property has been damaged or destroyed. Property is considered to be any item that has a value and can also provide coverage for loss of income.
When a Property Insurance Policy is written, there are a few coverage forms a policy can have: basic, broad, and special. The type of property insurance coverage form determines the causes of loss, or perils that are covered. The most comprehensive property insurance form is the "Special Form."
Sample causes of loss: fire, lightning, explosion, windstorm, hail, smoke, aircraft or vehicle damage, riot or civil commotion, vandalism, sprinkler leakage, sinkhole collapse, volcanic action, water damage, weight of snow, ice or sleet, breakage of glass, and coverage for falling objects.
